The Curators' Award
Jonathan Wade

Jonathan Wade looks at situations in man-made landscapes or natural objects that capture qualities of ambiguity, intervention, transience or coincidence. He translates these experiences into curious, unexpected forms, beautifully crafted and tantalisingly not quite normal. Jonathan is based in London and received his MA in Ceramics & Glass at the RCA in 2013. Represented by Adrian Sassoon, he has shown work in Collect and Masterpiece, and has exhibited in A Leap Into the Unknown and Focus Exhibition, both Contemporary Applied Arts, London. Awards include the Waddeson Commission and Paolozzi Travel Prize and Crafts Council Development Award.
The University of Gloucestershire Award
Tim Ridley
Tim Ridley uses painting, drawing, collage and assemblage to explore difference and binary opposition in contemporary society. A particular interest is the human/animal divide - he likes to cross disciplinary boundaries with his work and subject matter. The gaze of the creatures in this miniature diptych magnetises the viewer across a large space; strange wild creatures caught in stiff conventional sittings. Tim graduated from Chelsea College of Art in 2011 and now lives in Penzance, Cornwall. He is an associate member of the Penwith Society of Artists and a member of the Newlyn Society of Artists and has recently received an Arts Council grant to make a new body of work entitled 'Humanimal' during 2015.
